Conference Registration and the Conference Opening/Keynotes are located in the underground space between the Jaume I building (Building 20) and the Roger de Llúria building (Building 40). There will be signage and volunteers to direct you.

Travel

All BigSurv18 attendees are responsible to make their own travel arrangements and obtain necessary travel documents (e.g., visas). For questions please email info@bigsurv18.org.

Visas are granted by Spanish consulates abroad. If you have questions regarding visas or travel to Spain, please refer to the nearest Spanish Consulate.

Barcelona is a fabulous city with a rich history and wonderful attractions. But like many cities of its size, petty crime is a concern, particularly in popular tourist areas. Please be cautious when traveling and check with your local embassy for any safety alerts or travel warnings.

If you have questions regarding vaccinations, currency and exchange, or driver’s license, please refer to the nearest Spanish Consulate.

Transportation from the Barcelona Airport

The Barcelona-El Prat Airport is located approximately 15.5 kilometres from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Taxis are available opposite

• the arrival areas of Terminal T1;
• the Barcelona-Madrid shuttle; and
• terminals T2A, T2B, and T2C.

Other transportation options include the following:

• Uber service.
• AeroCITY airport shuttle—shared shuttle and private van service to Barcelona hotels. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made online or via the AeroCITY app. For more information, refer to their website.
• Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB)—public transportation is available by Metro, Línea L9 Sud, with convenient connections to other Metro lines throughout the city. Bus service is also available from Terminal T1 at the airport. Visit TMB’s website for more information on the Metro and bus system, or to plan your travel from the airport to your hotel.
• Rental car companies—including Hertz, Europcar, and Enterprise—are also located in terminals T1 and T2B.

Getting to UPF from within Barcelona

BUS:

• H16: Ramon Trias Fargas/Dr. Trueta stop
• 10: Ramon Trias Fargas stop
• 14: Sardenya/Dr. Trueta stop

METRO: The nearest metro station is Ciutadella—Vila Olimpica, line 4. Just walk 200 metres down Ramon Trias Fargas (away from the sea) and UPF is on the left side of the street.

TRAM: Line T4—Wellington and Ciutadella—Vila Olímpica
